We at The Opening Door would like to begin by acknowledging the traditional territories on which we operate in our headquarters in Toronto. We extend our respect and gratitude to the Indigenous peoples who have been the stewards of these lands for generations.
Our headquarters in Toronto are located on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. The city is also now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island. We recognize that the history of these lands is marked by the resilience of Indigenous peoples who continue to uphold their traditional knowledge, languages, and cultures.
We acknowledge the ongoing effects of colonization, and we are committed to understanding our role in this process and working towards reconciliation, justice, and the strengthening of relationships with Indigenous communities.
As we embark on our work at The Opening Door, we strive to honour the Indigenous peoples who have called these lands home and to contribute to the process of healing and building a just and inclusive future for all. We acknowledge the responsibility that comes with inhabiting these lands and pledge to learn, grow, and engage in meaningful ways with the Indigenous communities around us.
